Our new class introduced in 2016: soloists are selected by the adjudicator for the Junior (11 years and under) and Senior (12-18 years) Sussex Festival Dancer of the Year where they will be invited to perform two contrasting solos of their own choice in any genre. This class will take place on the final day of the festival. Our Adjudicator will select a Winner and a Runner Up from each age category and they will be announced during our Prizegiving ceremony.
London Studio Centre Summer Course - The Bridget Espinosa Award
Mr Espinosa is again delighted to be able to offer a scholarship at Sussex Festival of Performing Arts to one of our dancers, aged 16 years and above, to attend a course at London Studio Centre’s Summer Programme in July/August. Our adjudicator will select a dancer to receive this award. Five day courses are available in Advanced Classical Ballet, Advanced Jazz, Musical Theatre and Advanced Contemporary Dance. These courses are designed for students who may be thinking of entering full-time dance training. Each course will allow you the unique opportunity to experience student life at London Studio Centre and offer the chance to work with our highly regarded teaching faculty, many of whom are current or past West End performers.
Gibraltar International Festival Award
Each year a dancer is selected by the Adjudicator to take part in the Gibraltar International Festival in February or March. Travel and accommodation expenses for the dancer and a parent/teacher are all paid for by the Festival. This is an exciting opportunity for dancers to experience a cultural exchange. In return, Gibraltar International Festival send a dancer from their festival to take part in Sussex Festival each year.
